The redesigned 2001 model of the BMW 7-Series were the first to feature a 6-speed automatic transmission. A few years later, Mercedes-Benz released their newest S-Class with the more economical 7-speed automatic transmission, which was set as a technological standard. Now, Lexus is offering a whopping 8-speed transmission on the new LS and apparently, by reports made by Automotive News, the new redesigned 7-Series will up the standard by offering a 8-speed transmission as well. Hmm, how ironic. The next 7-series should arrive near 2009 or 2010, so maybe by then we will find a 9-speed transmission on the 7? Maybe, just maybe.
Here’s a video of BMW’s all-wheel-drive system, the xDrive, at work. There’s a lot of sliding, but the xDrive does a pretty good job considering the icy conditions the vehicles are in. Although with the sliding, it still seems to remain traction and does not fall too far off the road. The question now is: is it good enough to compete with the legendary Quattro all-wheel-drive from Audi?
One word: Fun! I saw this video on YouTube and boy, it sure looks fun to be driving like that. Although in Japanese, the video shows a race-off between major luxury marques. There was the Audi A8, the new Lexus LS460, the Jaguar XJ-Series, and the BMW 745i. I was disappointed to see that they didn’t incorporate the Mercedes-Benz S-Class into the race since it fits into the category.
Anyways, watch the video for the winner. I won’t say who, but the race was pretty close anyways. I think you know who came in last. The video is courtesy of YouTube.
New spy shots of the new BMW M3 Coupe and M3 Cabrio were spotted earlier today and it’s been the talk of the web since. There’s additional images if you continue reading.
It appears that BMW has the coolest showrooms and displays, evident in a new survey. As well, Mercedes-Benz and Audi also took the spot as top 3 for having the best showrooms. Sad to say this, but I’ve never been to an BMW, Mercedes-Benz, nor Audi showroom so I can’t really say anything on this because I can’t afford those gosh-darn-tootin’ luxury cars. Spy shots of the upcoming BMW M3 interior have been spotted. As you can see, there is the signature M-performance shifter. I think that’s about it. I couldn’t really see any red and blue stitching on the steering wheel. Hopefully that will come a bit later. Please visit the source for more images.

Check out the video by Fifth Gear who reviewed the new BMW 335i. A sporty and stylish coupe, the reviewer actually dislikes the styling and complains that it does not grab enough attention while being parked on the curb. If it was me, I would’ve noticed the 335i at an instant it passes me.

Can’t wait for that new M3 Coupe to come out? No worries, AC Schnitzer, a performance and tuning company, has met your demands and added new performance kits to the all-new 3-Series Coupe. With this thing, you’ll never need that M3. Just kidding.
Enjoy the wallpapers! 😀
It appears that David Beckham’s armored BMW X5 SUV was found in Macedonia today after it was stolen in Madrid. If Mr. Beckham does not claim the vehicle, it will be auctioned off to needy fans.
It looks like BMW will not join with major German carmakers such as Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and Audi to market the diesel plan in the United States under the BLUETEC, which BMW refuses to use.
BMW is planning to use a name that is much different from BLUETEC and wants to develop a urea-based technology to reduce harmful gases before considering coming to the United States.
We may see the introduction of BMW’s new diesel technology at the L.A. Motor Show.
BMW has announced that it will launch the world’s first ever hydrogen-powered saloon. Powered by a dual-mode 12-cylinder combustion engine, the Hydrogen 7 has an output of 260hp, with a top speed of 230km/h.
Working with the gasoline tank, the liquid hydrogen allows the vehicle to travel up to 200 km on hydrogen and 500 more on gasoline.
Inside, the space is sacrificed by 4.5 inches to store the hydrogen tank on the 760Li. The first customers to receive the Hydrogen 7 are suspected to be minor celebrities including politicians, sports stars and industry leaders. Familiar faces include Madonna, Al Gore, Dr. David Suzuki and Arnold Schwarzenegger and others.

Popular Science has released its list of Best of What’s New for 2006. In the automotive category, there are 13 winners. To be considered a “Best of What’s New”, it must revolutionize and change the way we think about the future. Check out the list for yourself.
BMW unveiled more images of its upcoming X5 SAV, or Sport Activity Vehicle. Featuring seating for 7, the new X5 looks extremely sharp, but a little boring for my taste. It look too much like the previous generation, and the interior is a bit too simple to compete with other SUV’s in this category. BMW has announced that the BMW M5 will available with a manual transmission for the 2007 model year, partly due to people complaining about the loss of excitement with all the extra electronic systems aiding the vehicle. Sorry for the delay, processing BMW images takes a long time. Anyways, enjoy!

Okay. After much controversy in the World’s Most Beautiful Automobiles post, I must first say that I did not create that list. I repeat, did not. That list was messed up anyways. So I have created my own little list for those who care to listen.
The list contains vehicles that you can find on the dealer lots today, not vehicles that are about to be introduced, so not to cause any controversy.
