Another successful year has gone by, and Christmas marks the end of 2006! This holidays, we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable break. Don’t forget, giving is the joy and spirit of Christmas, whether it’s a Lexus like shown above or just a small toy to your local salvation army. Some aren’t as greatful as some of us so it’s a good idea to give back to the community.
A small reminder to carfanatix, please check your e-mail as you are the winner of our iPod Shuffle contest! Thanks to everyone who participated and just a heads-up, there will be another contest coming very soon. I won’t hint what it is, but the prize will involve another iPod! Thanks everyone and merry Christmas!

You might want to sit down before fainting over a Toyota. This year, Toyota will present its FT-HS Hybrid Sports Concept which will be a super car powered by a 3.5-L V6 engine with more than 400 horsepowers working together with a hybrid powertrain with a 0-60 time of around 4 seconds.
Although a mere concept, what you see here will certainly be what you get at the Detroit auto show. The FT-HS Hybrid Sports Concept that will unveil at the NAIAS will be the size of a Lexus SC430, except wider. There will also be room for 4 passengers. The engine will be visible through a hole in the hood, similar to that of the Audi R8, where the engine is visible through a piece of glass.
Inside, the aggressive design from the outside is carried onto the interior, which has sharp edges throughout the cabin. Yes, it may look cool in the pictures, but the question really is: will this ever be made into production? Kevin Hunter, VP of the Calty Design Research reports that the price tag will fall in the mid $30,000 range, which is not too shabby.

Here are the first exclusive images of the new redesigned Mitsubishi Lancer. This is just a small photo gallery so you’ll have to wait a bit longer for the high-resolution wallpapers, which should be up closer to the official unveil date. The images show the interior of the Lancer as well, which is overall, largely improved with high-quality materials similar to that of the new Outlander. Inside, you’ll find supple seats with aluminum trim surrounding the cabin. Not quite the revolutionary design, but it works. Pay close attention to the detail in the gauges too, looks kind of nice.

Daimler Chrysler group announced that it will recall over 68,000 of its new vehicles due to a problem with the braking system as well as a problem with the windshield defroster. Among these vehicles, they will include the new Dodge Nitro, the Jeep Compass, Chrysler Sebring, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Dodge Magnum, Dodge Caliber, Jeep Commander, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Liberty.
A problem with the brake system could lead to cause drivers to lose control of the car. Among some 62,000 vehicles from the 2007 models affected, only 11 models were reported. However, a notice to all registered owners will be sent out in January. Luckily, no accidents or injuries have been reported so far.

Looks like the new Fiat Bravo isn’t so hidden after all. After Mike sent me some spy shots of the new Fiat Bravo, there’s more to go around. This time, it was caught in the traditional red shown in the official press pictures and in the video footage Fiat released of the whole walkaround of this new 5-door hatchback. After seeing these pictures, I find that it looks a lot like the Mazda CX-7, particularly in the front bumper design, or maybe it is just me. Continue reading for two additional images.
Mercedes-Benz has released a teaser video for analysts and car enthusiasts to prove that the new C-Class will surpass the competition by undergoing extreme and heavy testing to simulate the everyday life of a typical driver. And boy, when I say extreme, I mean extreme. The C-Class is driven on hard surfaces, rocked up and down, even tilted to the side, any kind of torture that you can think of, the C-Class has already been through. The question now is: will it surpass the quality, build, and drive of the new BMW 3-Series?

Ultra-luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has proven once again that is an innovator, unveiling details about the new Ocean Drive concept, which is a four-door convertible. One of the largest convertibles I’ve seen, the Ocean Drive is dubbed the S-Class convertible, with many attributes similar to the S-Class. As well, there will be options such as the AIRSCARF to warm the necks of all four occupants. With this, it will be extremely likely that Bentley will introduce a convertible version of its Flying Spur model sometime in the future.

So we all knew that the R8 was going to have some LED lighting like the Audi S6, but who’d known that it was going to be equipped with a total of 210 LED lights? At the front, there will be a total of 24 front-mounted lights, and at the back, there will be 186 LED brake lights. The lights at the back will also provide lighting for the engine compartment bay of the R8, which is to draw attention to its powerful engine through the clear glass. Mm, yes. There’s nothing better than getting a good view on that powerful V8.

The new Jaguar C-XF concept, which will debut at NAIAS, is one of the vehicles that will change Jaguar’s crumbling history. Similar to the MKR concept revealed earlier today, the C-XF will hint design cues which will be implemented on future Jaguar vehicles and will also be classified under four-door coupe category.
Inside, you’ll find aluminum, wood, and leather trims surrounding the cabin with hints of the interiors for future Jaguar’s. Packed with the 4.2-liter V8 from the XKR, the C-XF produces 420hp at 368lb ft of torque under the control of a 6-speed transmission. It’s all a lot of fun, but we probably won’t see these on the production vehicle anyways. But hey, if Jaguar does step up the game with this cool little concept available for consumers, then I think I might just go out and check out a Jaguar myself.

Set to be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 7th, the new MKR Concept will be a four-door four-seater. By looking at the pictures from Lincoln, we can see that the vehicle is not only a concept, but it holds the key to the future of Lincoln design.
We can expect to find the future face of Lincoln vehicle design, which are visible on the MKR concept with 7 predefined design elements and characteristics. To begin the characteristics, the MKR will have clean and uncluttered body surfaces; an aggressive belt-line; a beveled edge which will be parallel to the belt-line; a front grille that was inspired by the 1941 Continental Cabriolet; attached with thin, horizontal headlamp clusters; a smooth-flowing C-pillar; and lastly, an integrated roof-rail.
An inch longer than the current MKS concept, the MKR show car houses 415-horsepowers under the hood and is equipped with all-wheel-drive. Inside, the interior is lighted by an ice blue lighting illuminating the gauges, with cashmere covered seats and Mohair carpets.
Yes, a concepts are sure cool but sometimes a bit too unrealistic. Lincoln has announced that they will launch its new flagship sedan in 2008, and many things you see here on the MKR concept will be implemented. Looks like everyone wants a piece of that sexy-ness that the Mercedes-Benz CLS brought to the market.

Here is a video explaining the idea behind the Volvo XC60 Concept. One of the major ideas behind the XC60 was to downsize the current XC90 into a smaller and more versatile vehicle. My first initial impressions are that Volvo has definitely stepped up the game, however, this is a concept vehicle, and we all know that when concepts look cool, the production won’t be so rad. Enjoy the video, it actually has a lot of important information about future Volvo vehicles.

The new Toyota Auris has received 5-Star ratings from the European new car reassessment program for European vehicles. The hatchback proved that there was minimal intrusion in the cabin thanks to its 9 airbags and received 4-star performance in child occupant protection ratings. As a result, the new Auris is Toyota’s fifth vehicle to receive a 5-star rating. The Auris was also rated 3 out of 4 stars in pedestrian protection. The Auris scored a total of 35 points out of a possible 37. Yay.

Matt e-mailed me this morning about pictures of the new Jaguar XF, replacing the S-Type. From what I can tell, the pictures show that the new sedan will have a coupe-like body, similar to that of the Mercedes-Benz CLS. As well, the aggressiveness of the design will be turned up a lot to compete with major luxury sedans. Nothing is known right now, so let’s keep our hopes up and pray that Jaguar will unveil something that will make us drool.

Cadillac has released an exclusive image of the new redesigned CTS. Although there aren’t any information, we can see that the grill resembles largely to the Chevrolet Malibu teaser image we posted just yesterday, which has a new bold stance and a more recognizable presence. The new CTS will be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January and production will begin by late-summer of 07.
